What Does a Smart Home Network Actually Cost? A Transparent Breakdown

Most smart home and network companies hide pricing behind a "schedule a consultation" form. We'd rather you know the actual numbers before you pick up the phone. Here's exactly what each stage costs and what it includes.

Quick answer: Estate Discovery is $500 (credited toward any engagement), Grand Unification is $1,899 flat for design and configuration, and hardware runs $4,000–$12,000 separately, sourced at cost.

    • Typical all-in total for a 6,000–10,000 sq ft estate: roughly $7,500–$11,000
    • Hardware is never marked up — you see the exact spec and cost during your Estate Discovery
    • Larger estates and multi-building compounds get a custom, line-itemed proposal, not a vague "contact us" placeholder

    Stage 1: Estate Discovery — $500

A concierge on-site assessment: roughly ninety minutes covering a full walk-through, professional Wi-Fi heat-mapping floor by floor, an audit of your existing smart devices and network gear, and a security and segmentation review. You get a written report within five business days.

This fee is fully credited toward any engagement you move forward with — if you proceed to Grand Unification, the $500 comes off your total. If you don't, you keep the report and heat map either way.

Stage 2: Grand Unification — $1,899 flat (service fee)

Our flagship engagement: full audit, Home Assistant integration and unified single-app dashboard, secure network configuration and VLAN segmentation, smart lighting and automation scenes, a digital Quick Start Guide, 1-hour Welcome Home training, and 30-day priority support.

Important: this is the design and configuration fee — hardware is separate. We don't mark up equipment. You're paying for the architecture, the labor, and the documentation; the hardware itself is sourced at cost.

Stage 3: Hardware — typically $4,000–$12,000, sized to your estate

This is the range most pricing pages leave out entirely. Your eero PoE 7 access points and Firewalla security gateway (Gold, Gold Plus, or Gold Pro depending on square footage and device count) are real equipment costs, procured at cost with no markup:

    Estate ProfileTypical Hardware Range
3,000–6,000 sq ft, 50–100 devicesLower end of the range — Firewalla Gold, 3 eero PoE 7 units
    6,000–10,000 sq ft, 100–200 devicesMid-range — Firewalla Gold Plus, 4–5 eero PoE 7 units
10,000+ sq ft, multi-building compoundUpper end — Firewalla Gold Pro, 5+ eero PoE 7 units, possibly multiple gateways

We spec the exact hardware during your Estate Discovery, so there's no guessing — you'll see a real number before committing to anything.

    What it doesn't include

Configuration-only means exactly that: no drilling, no new wiring, no construction. If your estate needs new cable runs (rare in an existing home, common in new construction — see our pre-wire guide for builders), that's a separate electrical scope we'll flag during Discovery, not something bundled into the $1,899.

    Larger estates and compounds

Multi-building properties, 15,000+ sq ft compounds, or anything beyond a standard single-residence scope gets a custom, line-itemed proposal after the Estate Discovery — so you see exact scope and price before any work begins, not a vague "custom pricing" placeholder.

    Total, door to door

For a typical 6,000–10,000 sq ft estate: $500 Estate Discovery (credited) + $1,899 configuration + roughly $6,000–$9,000 in hardware — usually landing in the $7,500–$11,000 range all-in. Compare that to the cost of one hacked device, one missed smart-lock reprogram, or the months most homeowners spend fighting a consumer mesh router before calling someone.

Book your Estate Discovery and we'll give you an exact number for your property, not a range.
